Frequently Asked Questions

How old do I need to be to legally possess a firearm?

According to the provisions of the Gun Control Act of 1968, it is specified that individuals under the age of 18 cannot purchase rifles, shotguns, or corresponding ammunition, while those under 21 cannot buy handguns or corresponding ammunition, or NFA items.

Yes, we exclusively thread rifle barrels. However, we typically avoid threading most rimfire barrels because of the extractor placement.

  • The minimum barrel length of a rifle is 16” for non-Short Barreled Rifles.
  • The minimum barrel length of a shotgun is 18” for non-Short Barreled Shotguns.

The ATF/NFA employs the term “silencer” while the general public frequently utilizes the term “suppressor”, but they are the same thing.

They are legal in 42 states, but owners are responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant state and local laws. Suppressors fall under the regulation of the National Firearms Act (NFA) of 1934, overseen by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). To lawfully acquire or possess a suppressor, you must:

  • You must be at least 21-years-old to purchase a silencer from a licensed dealer.
  • You must be a resident of the United States.
  • You must be legally eligible to purchase a firearm.
  • You must pass the federal background check.
  • You must pay the $200 for your tax stamp and each silencer must have it’s own tax stamp.
  • You must reside in one of the 42 states that currently allows civilian ownership of suppressors. Suppressors are illegal to purchase and use in California, Hawaii, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Delaware, and the District of Columbia.
  • Every suppressor manufacturer has incorporated measures to reduce noise. Our meticulous focus on dimensions and details results in superior construction of our suppressors, translating to enhanced accuracy.
  • We have no barrel length restrictions.
  • We impose no caliber restrictions; our capabilities extend from .22LR to .50BMG and encompass any magnum loads in between.
  • We stand out as the most ruggedly constructed on the market, virtually indestructible in field conditions.
  • Our suppressors efficiently mitigate backpressure compared to others, resulting in reduced blow-back.
  • Our suppressors do not affect the cycle rate of full-autos.
  • All of the VeroArms suppressors are made from 100% titanium inside and out.
